What Services do you offer?

I offer Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Disability (LD), Intelligence Testing, and other forms of mental health assessments.

How Long Does Testing Take?

Generally, testing takes 3-4 appointments. There is a one hour intake appointment, which can be conducted in person or via telehealth. There is a testing appointment, which usually takes between 1-3 hours, depending on the type of assessment and age of the client assessed. This appointment must be conducted in person. In some cases, such as ASD assessments for children and some adults, there is an additional one hour assessment which involves completing a structured interview that can be conducted in person on via telehelath. The final appointment is a one hour feedback appointment. At that appointment, I go over test results and discussed recomendations based on the outcomes of the assessment. The feedback appointment can be conduected in person or via telehealth. Adults are often asked to complete a Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Invantory, which can be completed online and can usually takes between 45 to 90 minutes to complete.

I am Worried that my child will have a hard time sitting through testing. Should I be concerned?

Absolutely not! Part of what you are getting when you hire an experienced psychologist with years of experience and training conducting mental health assessments is someone who has worked with literally hundreds of children and teens, many of which were not very excited about having a mental health assessment. I have many techniques and tricks to keep children and teens engaged and interested. In addition, ASD and ADHD evaluations are full of quick and interesting activities that are novel enough to grab a child or teens interest for a few minutes, which is usually as long as the activity lasts. Testing if fast-paced and I offer reluctant clients plenty of encouragement and potive reinforcement for giving these activities a try. I also know how to customize test batteries to “strike while the iron is hot” so specific measures can be taken during windows of opportunity with clients.

When is payment due?

I accept payment twice over the course of testing; an initial payment is due at the time of the intake. The rest of the payment is due at the end of the feedback appointment.

Does Mental Health Testing Work? How do You know if I have ADHD/ASD/LD/etc?

I have been offering mental health testing for years and I am very familiar with the tools I use. My tools, which include the Wechsler Intelligence Scales, the Delis–Kaplan Executive Function System, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, the Conners Continuous Performance Test, the Children’s Memory Scale, the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test, etc., the Stroop Test, the Vineland Structured Interview, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Invatory, etc. are the highest industry standard and state of the art. These tools are the same tools used at the University of Minnesota Neurological clinic and aroundthe world for mental health assessments. These tools are extremely good at identifying different aspects of how well our mind does at different tasks. I have years of experience and training with these tools and I know how to use them together to create a very specific profileof the person that I test.

These In addition, when I conduct my intial phone conversations with potential clients, I am honest with them. If someone is calling to ask about a mental health assessment but does not seem to have any symptoms of the mental health concern they are seeking testing for, I will let them know. I have and will continue to tell potential clients that it is possible they have the concern they are discussing with me, but it also sounds very likely that they may not. If the client would still like to proceed with testing, I am happy to work with them. But I am not interested in wasting anyone’s time or money by accepting clients that I think are unlikely to have a mental health concern.

Do You Accept Insurance?

Unfortunately, due to many factors, I do not accept insurance. I do offer a document called a superbill, which is a detailed list of the medical billing codes used for testing and a price for each one. This can be turned in to insurance companies that offer out of network coverage, HSA, FSAs, and other options to pay for service. I send each client a copy of their superbill after testing is complete.
